Chen Yiyu, male, Han nationality, is a native of Xianyou, Fujian Province. He graduated from the Biology Department of Xiamen University and was elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1991.
As a zoologist, Chen has done extensive research on carp and other native fish, finding more than thirty new species.
