Biography

Liu Jiyuan, male, Han nationality, is a native of Xingxian County, Shanxi Province. He was born in 1933, joined the CPC in 1952, and graduated from a technological college in Moscow, USSR in 1960.

Liu Jiyuan has been involved in the astronautics and aerospace industry his entire career. He served as a vice-minister of the Ministry of Astronautics Industry in 1984 and a vice-minister of the Ministry of Aerospace Industry in 1988. He contributed to the design of the control system of long-range carrier rockets. He was a member of the 14th and 15th CPC Central Committees and member of the standing committee of the 9th NPC.

Liu is the general manager of the China Aerospace Corporation, a post he has held since 1993.
